Windows software for the Trimble Galaxy Imarsat-C Terminal
"Nebula" is a Windows program for the Trimble Galaxy Imarsat-C terminal. It is optimized for handling email via Comsat or other service providers, and supports most of the features of the Galaxy unit. (Omissions are the Galaxy position reporting, which is not compatible with most email formats, and some of the Galaxy service features). Nebula is written by Jim Corenman, a long-time cruising sailor and computer professional in his former life.
This program is specifically not suitable for vessels which must meet the SOLAS/GMDSS requirements, which specifically prohibit the use of computers for more than one task. For these applications it is necessary to use Trimble's DOS-based Galaxy DTE software, which meets the SOLAS requirements.
Nebula is not freeware, and requires registration in order to be fully functional. Without registration, the download operates in a demo mode with Galaxy communications disabled. Demo passwords are available for a limited period via email (the address is in the Help/About window).
The cost to register the program is US$50. You can buy online via PalPal (no account needed, see below), or by check payable by check to "Sirius Cybernetics" at the address in Help/About window, or by credit card via Fax: the area code is 360 and the number is 395-7000. Be sure to include your email address and the usual credit card details and both your Inmarsat Mobile# (9 digits starting with a "43...") and the 10-digit Inmarsat Serial# (10 digits starting with "0200...", both are on a label on top of the Galaxy box or in Nebula's Help/About window).
Software delivery is online, right here. This is the real deal, works in a very limited demo mode without registration or is fully functional with a registration-password. The "Nebula download" file is an install-program, save this to a "downloads" folder in your computer, or to a CD-rom or a USB memory-drive, then open that file to run the install program).
